I’ve been at lots of crossroads in my life, but I recently experienced my most prominent one to date. This one was a life changer, one that I knew I would remember for the rest of my life. A – do I take the easy route or do I take the risky one – kinda cross roads.
You see, this decision was a game changer. I’d made a decision to pursue something different and ultimately it did not make me happy but I knew that I was good at it and I would have a happy safe career in doing so. But that’s exactly where the problem lies, I don’t do safe. I knew exactly what I wanted to do, but was it a definite route to success? No. Was it guaranteed I’d get to where I want to be? No. But did I want it more than anything? Hell yeah. I knew that with my passion and determination I could and WOULD make it happen.
So it’s Monday and I wanted to start your week off with a big lesson I’ve learnt over the past few months. In my experience it’s better to pursue the risky route, the road less travelled, why? Sure you will face more obstacles, more set backs and nothing is guaranteed but what you will be guaranteed is more happiness in failing every day whilst pursuing something you love than doing a 9-5 routine job whilst dreaming about what you wish you’d have done instead.
My advice? Take the risk, take it with every inch of your soul and make it happen.
I’ll leave you with this from Jim Carey, “So many of us choose our path out of fear disguised as practicality, what we really want seems impossibly out of reach and ridiculous to expect so we never dare to ask the universe for it, I’m the proof you can ask the universe for it.”
